Edpuzzle Supported Assignments

Supported Assignments enhance teaching and learning by incorporating powerful tools for insights, follow-up activities, anti-cheating, and an integrated dictionary.

Insights

Insights automatically analyze student performance to provide you with an at-a-glance summary of class progress, identifying who is struggling and why. It’s not an analytics dashboard — it’s a decision-support tool designed to save you time and reduce cognitive load.

Insights help by:

  • Identifying struggling students quickly without reviewing every answer.
  • Spotting class-wide misconceptions.
  • Understanding student reasoning breakdowns.
  • Determining next steps, such as re-teaching or targeted student grouping.

Note: Insights will become available for assignments with 10 or more student submissions.

Follow-Up Activities

Once assignment insights are collected, Edpuzzle recommends follow-up tasks based on where the class encountered challenges. With one click, you can generate a short reinforcement quiz or a bite-sized reading that reviews the tricky concepts, preview it, and assign it - no building from scratch!

Anti-cheating

Every Supported Assignment includes a built-in cheating-detection system. Teachers can enable copy-blocking to discourage students from copying text into external tools and also activate paste-blocking to encourage students to articulate their responses independently. Additionally, a simple flag alerts you to potential irregularities that may warrant additional review.

Dictionary

Available for assignments using Edpuzzle Docs, the Dictionary allows students to seamlessly look up definitions for challenging words directly within the assignment. This feature supports multiple languages. You can also track how often each student reached for the dictionary to identify where students encountered difficulties.

How to use Supported Assignments

  1. During the assignment creation process, toggle On the option to Teach with Support.
By selecting this option, your Supported Assignment allowance will be updated. It cannot be reversed once assigned.
  2. Toggle On the Learning Insights option if you’d like to see where students encountered difficulties, what they've learned, and receive recommended follow-up activities.
  3. Supported Assignments will always alert to unusual activities with cheating detection, but you can also choose to prevent students from pasting text into responses for open-ended questions as well as prevent them from copying the question text into an external tool. To use these features, toggle On the options to Block Paste and Block Copy.
  4. Continue with other assignment settings as needed.
  5. Click the "Assign" button at the top of the page, and you're done!

Note: All users have access to the same Supported Assignment tools; however, your specific plan determines the quantity of assignments you may use. More information can be found here: https://edpuzzle.com/pricing.
